I met Liz and Craig through 80’s Dance Party, the event that I’ve promoted and DJ’d for longer than any other I’ve done (25 years in one form or another, but who’s counting?) They’ve attended 80’s Dance Party events at Black Whiskey, Tropicalia, Songbyrd Cafe, and The Black Cat, so I was thrilled when they asked me to spin at their wedding!
It took place in July of 2018 at Hollin Hall in Alexandria, VA. The venue is amazing, from the outdoor grounds to the hall itself, all very charming. We lucked out, too, as it had rained all week before the wedding but then cleared out just in time!
The music for the ceremony was provided by friends of the couple, who played violin and guitar. Liz and Craig wanted an 80’s themed reception, and that is one of my specialties. I only wish I could have kept playing for another two hours!
For this event, I provided two sound systems, one for the ceremony and another for the reception. Microphones were provided for the live musicians and for the readings during the ceremony. A wireless mic was provided for the officiant and another for toasts at the reception later. I also provided uplighting for the reception hall.
